CATnip

For translators who work in memoQ

Catch it before your client does.

CATnip is an AI assistant that sits beside memoQ. It knows which segment you are on, talks it through with you, translates it in context and checks your work, and writes the result straight into the segment, formatting and all.

Not on sale yet. An early version for Windows, in testing with a small group of translators. About the test

See how it really looks

A minute and a half: CATnip translating a document into memoQ, talking through a segment, and learning from the project at the end. The text is a sample written for this video. There's no sound.

What it does

Translates in context

Not word by word: it reads the neighbouring segments, your terminology and your notes. The translation goes into the memoQ segment as if you had typed it, with its tags and formatting.

Talks about the segment you're on

Ask why a phrase reads oddly, what a term means in this field, or for three other ways to say it. No browser, no copy and paste: it already knows what you are looking at.

Reviews before you deliver

One segment or the whole document. It points out what a reviewer would flag, and puts in the corrections you accept.

Learns how you work

Terms, rules and preferences kept per project, per client or for all your work. At the end of a project it goes over your corrections and offers to turn them into notes, so you don't fix the same thing twice.

A small test

We are trying CATnip on real jobs with a small group of translators, to learn what works and what breaks. It is an early version, so things will. We can only take a few people, so we can't promise a place.

You would need
Windows and memoQ 8.7 or newer. For the AI: a ChatGPT Plus subscription or higher, an OpenAI API key (pay per use, good value for light use), or a local AI model on a computer that can run one.
You would get
CATnip free while the test runs, a direct line to us, and the version you tested to keep.
If you're interested
Write to support@catniptool.com with your language pair, your memoQ version, and roughly how much you translate a week.

Your text stays yours

Your translation text goes from your computer to your own AI account, or to an AI program on your own computer. None of it reaches us. Whether a client allows AI on their text is between you and them; start with clients who do. The full privacy page
